Mindekirken's decidedly different worship model from other American immigrant churches includes Norwegian as a second primary language. Many other churches switch to English as their primary language after one or two generations. This practice is the central point of discussion for our open Kaffeprat (or coffee talk) following the 11:00am worship service on Sunday.
A panel discussion on assimilation and faith will include:
Pastor Gunnar Kristiansen (native of Norway, Mindekirken's pastor)
Joseph Grødahl (Norway House, Mindekirken)
Oromo-Minnesotan Pastor Asefa Melka Wakjira
Somali-Norwegian Mohamed Abdulkadir Yusuf (Norway House International Advisory Board)
Singers from Our Redeemer Oromo Evangelical Church will perform before the panel.
Coffee and luncheon are prepared by Mindekirken's Nordic Kitchen Wizard, Charlotte Brevik.
