Prof. Ezekiel Gebissa from Kettering University will guide us through the historical connections between Oromia and Scandinavia. In particular, we’ll learn about Hika “Onesimos” Nesib, an Oromo missionary who escaped slavery and found his way to Scandinavia. He later returned to Oromia a free man and translated the Bible into the Oromo language.
Tuesday Open House is a program of Mindekirken dedicated to expanding knowledge for persons interested in Mindekirken and Norwegian literature, culture, history, music, theology, and art. As the United State's last remaining Norwegian-speaking church, Mindkeirken is devoted to its roots and connection to the vibrant Norwegian-American population in Minneapolis and its evergrowing immigrant and American Indian neighbors who call Ventura Village home.
The program provides a weekly opportunity for fellowship, devotions, and a delicious luncheon.
$10 cash/check is requested at the door.
