A Sweet Invitation to Bakers

In true Norwegian fashion and inspired by the city of Bergen’s annual Gingerbread City, Norway House is inviting friends, families, bakers, and any other gingerbread enthusiasts out there – young and old – to join us in creating Minneapolis and St. Paul out of gingerbread – the 2015 GINGERBREAD WONDERLAND – PEPPERKAKE TWIN CITIES.

We are looking for gingerbread house experts and novices to help us create this Gingerbread Wonderland. If you have experience building gingerbread houses or buildings and are interested in getting involved by creating one of the key buildings on the Twin Cities landscape, OR if you just want to participate for fun by contributing a house or other structure, we would like to hear from you!

We encourage people to deliver their gingerbread contributions to Norway House between November 5th and November 20th, between 11 am and 3 pm.

GINGERBREAD WONDERLAND – PEPPERKAKE TWIN CITIES will be on display in the Norway House Galleri between November 24th, 2015 and January 15th, 2016. Details about the exhibit.

For more information about buildings and desired dimensions, contact: Rachel Peterson at 612-423-9094 or rachelcollinpeterson@gmail.com

Norway’s Maya Vik will perform live at FEST on June 13.

sponsored by Sons of Norway

“Summoning the 1980s Minneapolis funk of Prince and Janet Jackson.” – The New York Times

Norwegian bass player/vocalist, Maya Vik, has set her sights on the United States, toting a fresh brand of sexy funk with her definitive steamy vocals and thumping bass lines. Voted Norway’s most beautiful woman by fashion magazine, Elle Mann, Maya is primed with her new EP, “Beyond The Basics”, a blend of soon to be classics, including the infectious, funky disco smash single, “Y.M.D. (Young Michael Douglas).” On her latest release, Maya worked with world-renowned nu-disco DJ/producer, Lindstrøm, William Idap (Nico and Vinz’s, massive hit “Am I Wrong,”), and producer Pat Lukens who all brought Maya back to the 1980s with the sound that became a key ingredient in her funk oriented live shows.
