The Edvard Grieg Society of Minnesota celebrates and promotes the music of Edvard Grieg as well as other Nordic composers through an annual concert series that features both local and international musicians.

Each curated series offers unique opportunities to experience all types of music including soloists, choral, piano, chamber, string quartets and traditional instruments in varied, and often intimate, settings.

String Competition

Edvard Grieg Society of MInnesota Introduces:

In 2016, the Grieg Society launched the 2017 String Competition, with final rounds and awards in June 2017. This contest will promote and encourage young string players to explore and study the music of Edvard Grieg and other Nordic composers. Cash prizes of up to $1,500 and international performances and scholarship opportunities are offered. See application and rules for more details.

Submission deadline for all materials and $50 application fee is February 1, 2017.  Application fee must be sent to Norway House, ATTN: EGS String Competition, 913 E. Franklin Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55404.

Saturday, June 3, 2017: Semifinal and Final Rounds
