The building

From its inception, the founders of Norway House had a dream that the organization would own and develop a space that could serve the community in a variety of ways. This dream became a reality in 2015.

Although Norway House’s reach extends far beyond the walls of the bright blue building in south Minneapolis, our home base provides space for social gatherings, educational events, business meetings and exhibits. We strive to be an exemplary neighbor locally, regionally, and globally.

Telemark Office

The Telemark County Council, Norway, opened the Telemark Trade Office at Norway House in September 2014. The opening of the trade office is the result of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) established between Minneapolis-based Norway House and Telemark County Council that was signed in Oslo, Norway, in July 2013 during the Minnesota Trade Delegation visit to Norway led by Gov. Mark Dayton. The MoU focuses on the areas of business development, education and culture/tourism.“We are delighted that Telemark County has opened a trade office at Norway House,” said Karen Tuzcu, president, Norway House. “Having Telemark in our building is an example of how Norway House is fulfilling its mission, serving as bridge between the U.S. and contemporary Norway.”

“With a common ancestry and culture, we believe there is great potential for cooperation between Telemark and Minnesota,” said Mayor Terje Riis-Johansen,Telemark County. “Today the economy of our County is highly diversified, and boasts a wide spectrum of business and industry. Telemark is an ideal springboard for businesses looking to the European market – there is great potential for further growth and economic development in Telemark.”
