Social Events + Receptions
Though modest Norwegians are characterized, we know how to have a good time!
Norway House is a membership-based organization. That means Norway House wouldn’t exist if our members didn’t stick around to keep the party alive! In 2024, Norway House will celebrate 20 years as an organization. We want to celebrate by opening up our circle of friends and members wider than ever. The best way to do that? Throw some fun parties and have a nice kaffeprat, or coffee chat, over lunch at our café.
Our Café
The Kaffebar at Norway House has been a unique labor of love for our organization. Food and drink is one of the easiest ways of introducing a culture to outsiders. Also, Norwegians love coffee; we’re consistently ranked among the top countries in the world for jitter-juice-per-capita consumption, along with our friends, Iceland, Sweden, Finland, and Denmark. For members, we find that we connect best around the coffee pot and a savory smørbrød, (slice of bread with meat and cheese), or a bolle (bun pastry).
Member Events
Each month, Norway House offers a Member Frokost (breakfast event for members). Our members have noted that one of the most important things they love about becoming a member is getting to know other members! This isn’t news to us at all; it’s pretty special to be so interested in a far-off country with only five million people. Nonetheless, many of our members have found that this affinity is a strength in their personal and professional lives.
