Submit Your Plans!

We’re excited to have you participate! Remember, no experience or Norwegian heritage required! This is a community event for all baking enthusiasts, young and old.

Design Considerations

The base of all gingerbread creations must be less than 18 inches square. If you have an idea for a larger structure, please give us a call at (612) 871-2211 or send an email to Heather Vick at gingerbread@norwayhouse.org.

Friends, you’re not limited to a theme or design, so release your inner creativity! Returning bakers are encouraged to take “a bit(e) of nostalgia” and review those delectable archives to bake new life into past creations.

Finally, there are no rules about how much of a creation is edible, however, judges and exhibit visitors alike are admittedly partial to the baked elements of gingerbread houses and other creations. The more edible it is, the more memorable it is!

Schedule a Drop-off

Gingerbread creations need to be delivered to Norway House by November 12, 2024 at 913 East Franklin Avenue, Minneapolis. We do our best to protect structures throughout the entirety of the exhibit, but given the fragility of gingerbread, damage may occur. Select an available appointment below.

Competition & Judging

Gingerbread Wonderland judging will take place at the opening of the exhibit. Winners will be featured in various local publications and used in marketing for the exhibit. Judges will vote on the following categories (with potential new categories added based on final contestant pool):

  • Best of Minnesota

  • Best International

  • Most Creative

  • Most Koselig // Cozy

  • Best Amateur Baker

People’s Choice

Public voting will take place throughout the run of the exhibit, concluding in December. Visitors are asked to vote for their favorite adult creation, as well as their favorite family and youth gingerbread wonder. The top five in each category will be entered into a drawing for the Grand Prizes. Prizes are announced via email and social media on Christmas Eve, December 24.
