Spring Spotlight:
Spring Grove 2024
Spotlight: Spring Grove, MN
As Minnesota’s first Norwegian settlement, Spring Grove will provide a perfect subject for our Spring Spotlight during our 20th Anniversary festivities. Norway House is proud to celebrate Spring Grove this year, in part because of the many connections we already share with the Southeastern Minnesota town:
Our newspaper, The Norwegian American, successor to Decorahposten (1874-1972), owns the collection of published comic strips of Spring Grove's famous characters, Han Ola and Han Per.
Heidi Eger is perhaps best known as our “Lefse Guru” and also runs a lamb farm near Spring Grove which will provide the meat for the fårikål (lamb in cabbage) at our Spring Dinner: An Evening to Celebrate Spring Grove!
The Sundet Family Aula, the event hall in our Innovation + Culture Center, is named for a family with deep Spring Grove ties.
We have a strong and growing relationship with the Giants of the Earth Heritage Center, and members of our staff and board are proudly connected.
Soil from Spring Grove was collected as a symbolic nod to our roots and placed in our foundation.
Our Kaffebar always keeps some Spring Grove Soda in stock.
