Constitution Day at Norway House

  • Norway House 913 East Franklin Avenue Minneapolis United States (map)

Celebrate the shared history of the world’s two oldest democratic constitutions, the US and Norway.

Speaker and panelists will offer reflections on civic engagement, constitutional principles, and the electoral process.

Constitution Day in the United States commemorates the day the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia first signed the new constitution, September 17, 1787.

Constitution Day in Norway, popularly known as Syttende Mai, commemorates the signing of the Norwegian Constitution at Eidsvoll on May 17, 1814.

This event takes inspiration from the Norwegian American newspaper’s 2024 Democracy Center exhibit at Norway House.
