Discover the rich flavors and traditions of Irish and Norwegian lamb dishes in this unique culinary class. Guided by expert chefs of Irish and Norwegian descent, participants will explore how lamb has become a cherished ingredient in both cultures.
Begin with the Irish classic Shepherd’s Pie, where you’ll prepare a savory minced lamb filling topped with creamy mashed potatoes. Learn about Ireland’s sheep-farming heritage and hear stories of how this hearty dish has comforted families for generations.
Then, shift to Norway’s national dish, Farikal, a rustic lamb and cabbage stew slow-cooked with peppercorns. Discover the significance of lamb in Norway’s agrarian past and how this flavorful dish has long served as a staple during fall harvest and winter gatherings.
Throughout this hands-on experience, participants will gain cooking techniques, historical insights, and a deep appreciation for how Irish and Norwegian communities celebrate lamb. Join us to create, taste, and connect with two countries’ landscapes and culinary traditions, one flavorful dish at a time.
The lamb used in this class will be provided by instructor Heidi Eger who owns Radicle Heart Farm.
