Scandinavian Enamel Jewelry - A talk by Dwight and Lois Olson

  • Norway House 913 East Franklin Avenue Minneapolis United States (map)

Scandinavian enamel jewelry brought together design and craftmanship into small, wearable masterpieces. Lois and Dwight Olson are experts on this art form and have written two books (Forgotten Masters of Scandinavian Enamel Jewelry 1880 – 1960 and Guide to Collecting Scandinavian Jewelry) that are the standard for identifying and appraising Scandinavian enamel jewelry.

The Olsons will share their extensive knowledge of the artists and the artform in a talk in the Norway House Mondale Gallery. Enamel jewelry gained popularity in the Victorian era and maintained its desirability through decades of changing taste and schools of art, all while maintaining its exquisite quality.

Their talk includes many high-quality images of jewlery, tea services, and spoons, along with a select pieces of jewelry from their collection.

The 45-minute talk will be followed by ample time to ask questions and to look at the jewelry.
