To commemorate the bicentennial of the first organized Norwegian migration to the United States, Norway House and Mindekirken (The Norwegian Lutheran Memorial Church) are honored to welcome His Majesty King Harald V’s King’s Guard to Minneapolis for a rare and distinguished visit.

This historic occasion offers the public a full day of cultural celebration, ceremonial performance, and community fellowship in the presence of one of Norway’s most esteemed institutions. The visit marks 200 years of enduring ties between Norway and the United States—an enduring legacy of migration, connection, and shared heritage.

Daytime events are free and open to the public, culminating in an exclusive ticketed dinner hosted in the Sundet Family Aula at Norway House. Guests will share an elegant buffet-style meal in the company of the King’s Guard, who will assist in serving refreshments and personally present roses to mothers in attendance—a moving gesture of honor and respect for Mother’s Day.

Dinner with His Majesty the King’s Guard | 4:00PM–6:00PM

Join us for an an unforgettable evening with Norway’s finest, His Majesty King Harald V’s King’s Guard, hosted in the Sundet Family Aula at Norway House.

Enjoy a buffet-style meal served in the company of the King’s Guard—who will take part in attending to the guests by serving refreshments. The evening includes a rose presentation, as each mother in attendance is honored by a member of the Guard for Mother’s Day.

This is the only ticketed portion of the day’s celebrations, and seating is limited.
