The Fresh Flavor of Juniper: Meals, Medicine, & Drink

  • 913 East Franklin Avenue Minneapolis (map)

Discover the Wonders of Juniper

Juniper berries give a fresh, distinctive flavor whenever they’re used, so distinctive that they are sometimes a challenge for a cook to incorporate into a Nordic meal. Expert forager and a person with an appreciation for juniper’s unique qualities, Maria Wesserle, will teach you how to identify, prepare, and serve juniper in a variety of ways.

In this class, you will do the following:
make hot juniper tea
compose your own flavored gin (you will take home a 350 ml container of infused gin)
make juniper butter (especially good with rye bread)
make juniper ash “salt”
learn how to identify juniper and to use it medicinally

This is a hands-on class packed with information, so please bring a notebook and pencil, and be prepared to work in small groups.

$70 Norway House members / $75 General Admission

There is a $20 materials fee that is payable to the instructor for this class.

Please note that Norway House does not offer refunds or exchange class times. Be certain that you can attend on the day for which you’ve registered. Thank you!
