Valerie Plame, a former CIA officer, played a crucial role in managing covert programs aimed at preventing terrorists and rogue nations from acquiring nuclear weapons. Her career took a dramatic turn in 2003 when her identity was exposed in the political scandal known as the “Plame Affair.” This shocking revelation inspired her best-selling memoir, Fair Game: My Life as a Spy, My Betrayal by the White House, which was later adapted into the acclaimed 2010 film Fair Game, starring Naomi Watts and Sean Penn. Plame has also penned two gripping spy novels, Blowback and Burned.

In this engaging talk, Plame will delve into the pressing global nuclear threat, tracing its historical roots and examining ongoing disarmament efforts. She will also share insights from her fascinating CIA career, including her recruitment, rigorous training, and the profound impact of her identity leak.

“We are thrilled to host Valerie and learn about her remarkable journey and her current initiatives to create a safer world,” said John Kaul, an Afton videographer who met Plame during a photo shoot in New Mexico. “Her story is truly inspiring, and I knew I had to bring her to Minnesota.”
