Marcie R. Rendon is an acclaimed author and playwright celebrated for her powerful storytelling rooted in her Indigenous heritage. A member of the White Earth Nation, she has written several notable works, including the award-winning novel Girl Gone Missing and the compelling mystery series featuring Cash Blackbear. Her writing explores themes of identity, resilience, and the complexities of contemporary Indigenous life, often weaving personal and cultural narratives into her stories.
In her upcoming free talk at Norway House, Rendon will share insights from her literary journey, discuss the importance of representation in storytelling, and explore the intersection of culture and creativity. Attendees can look forward to an engaging conversation highlighting her experiences as a Native author and the significance of her work in today’s literary landscape. Books will be available for purchase at the event.

Sing, play, and create with teacher Kari Stern at Norway House while learning Norwegian! Using immersion techniques (using Norwegian as the primary language in class) children make direct linguistic connections to items and actions without translating.
This class is for children age 2 to 4 years old with a parent or caregiver. Classes are held at Norway House each Thursday, 10 am to 11 am, starting September 19 through December 12.

Whether you’re a seasoned painter or a beginner, this guided painting session is designed for everyone. With step-by-step instructions, you’ll walk away with a beautiful canvas painting—and plenty of good memories.
During the class, you’ll paint a vibrant “Vase of Sunflowers” using acrylic on canvas. All art supplies are provided, so all you need to do is show up and get creative!
