Pioneer & Soldiers Memorial Cemetery Tour - Norwegian Civil War Veterans - Sold out
South Minneapolis historian Susan Hunter-Weir will lead a tour of the Pioneer & Soldiers Memorial Cemetery, the oldest in Minneapolis and resting place of veterans, abolitionists, and people who were formerly enslaved. The walk will focus on the immigrants who participated in this conflict and how their stories are interwoven with the greater story of the Civil War and the abolition of slavery.
Exploring the Heart of Norway House: A Journey Through Plaques and Legacies
Each plaque within Norway House’s walls tells a story of dedication and love, commemorating individuals and families who have played significant roles in its development and spirit; these plaques honor the past, celebrate the present, and inspire future generations to continue the legacy of close bonds between the United States and Norway. Take a stroll with us through the different zones and explore these heartfelt tributes.
Spring Dinner: An Evening to Celebrate Spring Grove
Norway House is partnering with the Giants of the Earth Heritage Center in Spring Grove to bring a taste of Minnesota’s first Norwegian settlement in Minneapolis! Mindekirken Tuesday Open House: Cookbooks and Quilts Can Be Family History Too
Our Spring Grove friends join the community at our neighbor Mindeirken for a tour of the historic church and to stay for lunch and the program of the week:

Heart to Heart: Grandparents + Grandchildren Writing Together
A skilled writing instructor, Brenda Hudson, will guide grandparents and grandchildren through facilitated writing exercises, learning more about each other and capturing a shared family memory or two.
Mindekirken Tuesday Open House: Mass for the Nameless
Join our dear friends at Mindekirken for their weekly lunch and lecture program, featuring Ellen Hofsø—author of nine popular fiction books providing glimpses into the lived experiences of the Sami in Scandinavia.
Her most recent book—Messe for de navnløse (A Mass for the Nameless)—was inspired by a mass held by Pastor Gunnar Kristiansen in 2004. Having taken place on a cemetery in Gildeskål, Norway, the mass was for all of the Sami who were buried in an unmarked mass grave. The presentation will be held in a style that is called bokbad (book bath) in Norway, where Ellen Hofsø and Pastor Gunnar will engage in a dialogue about her book.
